This antenna is especially tuned to the Automatic Identification System (AIS) which is used to identify and locate vessels by electronically exchanging data with nearby vessels. Data is transmitted at a higher frequency than standard marine VHF so a standard tuned VHF antenna may be ‘deaf’ to these signals. Fits most standard 1” mounts.
